Sometime in life you just have to go back to your roots. Back to a time when everything was simple. You woke up excited about life and ready to take on the world. Not tainted by the daily woes of life, you are inspired an alive. Easier said than done, I know. At one point you realize - It’s time for a paradiam shift. To view the world as you did when you were a child.
I can’t put it into words more perfectly than this person did- “it’s about a re-awakening of the human spirit that you had as a child. As you grow up you lose it, your heart grows colder. We were little gods, but it was taken from us by people telling us we are “turning every good thing into rust.” So we adjust to become grown ups, and we lose ourselves in a spirit crushing world that we are told is reality.”
Today I wake up and re-gain that human spirit that encourages me to dance, be kind and enjoy life.
I think my journey into life began with music. The discovery of new bands has led me to begin a journey of self-awareness. It’s helped me to realize what people mean when they say that a song speaks to them. And it’s helped me to come into my own- caring not what others think but creating a path for me. It urges me to break out of this state of complacency and to learn about the world, myself and others.
In my head, this blog has tons of followers that are dying to know what my favorite summer songs are….well have no fear dear. Copy away
Guster- “Rise and Shine”.. I’m pretty sure this is about dying, purgatory or something i’m not deep enough to get. I just like the soothing harmonies.
Lupe Fiasco- “Show Goes On”... Who has 2 thumbs and learned the words to this whole song off of azlyrics.com? This girl.
Artic Monkeys- “Fake Tales of San Francisco”… Doesn’t this song make you want to jump around like crazy? Anybody? Just me? Great- it’s awkward now.
Billy Idol- “Rebel Yell”… I’ll redeem myself with a little Billy Idol. An oldie that begs to be belted out.
Foster the People- “Pumped up Kicks”… another catchy song with a distributing message. I think I’ll re-think going to this concert- at least not until I dye my hair black or something. As a blonde, I’d be the first to go!
MC Solaar- “Caroline” - I’d like to think that if we moved to Paris, I’d be cool enough to sit in a coffee shop where this guy was. Oh yeah- and I would know what he was saying.
The Faint- “The Geeks Were Right” - Just plain funny to me.
Bruno Mars- “Count on Me” - For my hubby.
Black Keys- “Everlasting Light” - no commentary needed. It’s the Black Keys for goodness sake.
ok.. i’m tired now. You get the jist…I like a random group of artists. Shocker, I know.
